HOTSPOT: Why Tempe Beach Park is one of the best places to Poké hunt

IMG_3224

Tempe Beach Park is one of the best spots to Poké hunt in the valley.  There is a lot of PokéStops around the lake with majority of the PokéStops being on the south side of the lake between the Tempe Center for the Arts and Tempe Boat Rentals.

You can count on a lot of Poké Trainers showing up once the sun starts to set. By then, the PokéStops are already activated with lures and a crowd of people are already filling up their backpacks with items, catching Pokémon, meeting new people, and most importantly getting a good workout.  This is a great place for people of all ages to Poké hunt.  And with the lake being there, this makes it the coolest place to hunt during the summer heat.   It was awesome to see the presence of Tempe Police out at the park to ensure the safety of everyone.

When looking for a Pokémon to catch, we use the Poké radar as a tool to see how near or far the Pokémon is.  With the logic of the steps shown under the Pokémon on the radar to indicate the circumferential distance of each Pokémon, on an open field we would travel either North, South, East, or West from the starting point and watch the steps decrease to let us know we are heading in the right direction.

With the Tempe Town Lake being there, the Poké radar should not pick up any Pokémon in the water and because of distance should not pick up any Pokémon on the opposite side of the lake.  Now your hunting area just got cut in half which makes it much easier to find the Pokémon you’re looking for.  We recommend hunting on the south side walking between Tempe Center for the Arts and Tempe Boat rentals.  You will make the most out of your time here.  Also check out the PokéStop on the bridge next to Tempe Center for the Arts, it makes for a cool experience and a nice view.

Note: Tempe Beach Park closes at Midnight.  Please respect those hours and leave accordingly.  Let’s not ruin it for anyone.
